Sneakers opt for everything. Yes, I’m putting it out there. for every outfit, there is a perfectly matched sneaker. Whether you’re incredibly feminine or a self confessed tomboy, there is a way. and the best part? style them ideal and you get to be comfy, and elegant as hell.

When I dreamed of working in fashion as a teenager, I imagined striding around an office, not a hair out of place, in 5 inch Saint Laurent heels (well, YSL back then). I did exactly that for the first few years of my career, the shoes cost nearly half my monthly wage, but I didn’t care. When I started my business, I swiftly left behind the blisters and fell in love with trainers – 5 inch heels, rushing, and shopping are not really compatible. So in celebration of being the comfiest and the coolest person in the room, I’ve picked 5 of my preferred trainers ideal now with a few ideas on how to style them.

1. Balenciaga Triple S – Sourced by www.tailoredstyling.com

I don’t think it’s possible to have a conversation about sneakers in 2018 without talking about Balenciaga’s Triple S. I tried really hard not to like these. I thought chunky sneakers must remain in the ’90s or on my Dad’s feet. I think I may have put so lots of pairs into clients’ hands that they’ve grown on me, I couldn’t help it. My preferred are this SS18 colour in the black and pink, they’re so girly! I find chunky trainers look best with skinny jeans and an oversized jacket to balance you out.

2. Nike Air Max 97 Ultra ’17 SE in White – Nike

I mean, if this is not an old school icon I don’t know what is?! now 20 years old, the Air Max 97 is still as terrific as it was when I was at school. fashion is obsessing over the late ’90s ideal now and I feel like 2018 is quite possibly the 97’s year. I’ve spent the past two years pairing Adidas Stan Smiths with cute little dresses in the summer and I think the Air Max 97 is a terrific alternative to do this with.

3. Off White x Nike Air Jordan 1 – Sourced by www.tailoredstyling.com

Thank you Nike for extending this release to women’s sizes – we miss out on so lots of good releases, don’t you think? this one has been dubbed the hottest sneaker collaboration of early 2018 and it was a incredibly limited, Europe-only release. If you missed out on a raffle (highly likely) there’s a good few pairs on the resale market – if you’re ready to pay the prices! I always pair hi tops with a bare leg – with cute denim cutoffs and a white tee in summer, or an oversized jumper in the spring.

4. Puma platform Trace – ASOS

I love a platform trainer, they’re terrific if you’re short (like me) and could finish with a little extra height. These Pumas are so versatile in the triple black, and I love the fact that they’re suede. Praktisk? No, avoid the rain like the pester but I think suede is always a lot more elegant looking. styling idea 101 – if you’re wearing jeans, always have a flash of ankle. I’m not sure why, it just looks better!

5. Gucci Ace GG low top – Browns Fashion, Farfetch

No trainer collection is complete without a pair of incredibly luxury sneakers that everyone can recognise when they’re worn. These are not for every day, they’re quite a statement. I love the Gucci Ace trainer, this pair with the monogram motif are my preferred and I love the contrasting heels. They fit really large so if you’re thinking of investing in a pair, take a size down from your normal size.
